Château de Fontainebleau

The city of Fontainebleau is a 10 minute bus ride from my current stay as an artist-in-residence in Grez-sur-Loing. And at the heart of Fontainebleau is Château de Fontainebleau, the palace of Fontainebleau. This was the palace of several French monarchs since the middel ages, and the different sections of the palace reflect the styles of its many different occupants through out history.

I left my visit to the palace to the end of my residency as it didn’t seem all that interesting when passing by it during my first trips to Fontainebleau. But I really enjoyed the palace with its well-crafted details and variation in style from room to room.
